Master's Program - Quantitative Sociology and Demography (SQD)
The Quantitative Sociology and Demography (SQD) track offers a demanding and innovative two-year program in quantitative sociology, demography, and computational social sciences, in line with the most recent developments in the discipline.
This integrated Master 1 - Master 2 curriculum combines:
- solid training in sociological reasoning,
- mastery of demographic and statistical methods (from classical to cutting-edge),
- hands-on use of software tools (SAS, STATA, R, Python),
- the design and implementation through seminars, thesis writing, and / or internships.
Students also explore key areas of contemporary research such as social stratification and inequality, gender and family, social networks, immigration, cultural practices, health and sociogenetics, and political sociology.
Program objectives
- Develop a rigorous sociological perspective and a critical understanding of how quantification is used in the social sciences.
- Learn to design, implement, and present statistical surveys.
- Acquire the ability to carry out an independent research project: formulate a research question, conduct empirical analysis, and write a thesis.
