Markets and demographic dynamics

We explore how markets respond to technological, demographic and environmental changes. Using large datasets and advanced econometric tools, our work examines the effects of migration or technological shocks on employment, the factors influencing fertility behaviour, and the inequalities tied to family structure. These research themes are closely aligned with today's public policy concerns, and they benefit from strong synergies with initiatives such as the IP Paris interdisciplinary center Energy for Climate (E4C) and the EUR DATA EFM programme, which link economics with sociology and data science.
Labour market dynamics and economic shocks
Research on the effects of migration shocks, technological changes, and secular stagnation on labour markets has contributed to a nuanced understanding of how these factors influence employment, innovation, and economic growth. This work informs policy debates on international mobility, flexible work arrangements, and the interaction between monetary and fiscal policy.
Demographic research and population growth
Studies on economic incentives shaping population growth in Africa provide valuable insights into fertility patterns, child mortality, and the sustainability of population growth. This research addresses critical questions regarding household behaviour, social protection, and the impact of public health interventions, contributing to the broader understanding of demographic trends and policy implications.
